Practice scenes / Cork Road lights
Cork Road lights Junction Practice
Stop at the line when the amber shows. A beginner scene set at Cork Road · R680 in Waterford.
The situation
The lights ahead have been green since they came into view. The amber appears while you are still well back from the line.
What makes it tricky
The amber shows with room to pull up comfortably. Stop at the line.
The rule
An amber light means you must not go beyond the stop line. The one exception is being so close when it first appears that stopping would be dangerous, and from this far back you are not.

Getting it right
You read the stale green, slowed early and stopped at the line on the amber.
What is marked here
A tester marking this situation would be looking at 3 things:
- Mirrors
- Reaction to hazards
- Traffic controls
This is a simplified teaching diagram at a real road. It isn't a test route and it isn't navigation. Always follow the actual signs, markings and conditions on the road.
